What is a Paraffin Dip?
Paraffin is a soft warm wax. It penetrates deep within the layers
of the skin, hydrating from the inside out. Many people, including
physical therapists, find the warmth very therapeutic & it is great
for arthritis. The warmth combined with a sweet aroma makes
this treatment relaxing and the benefits are rewarding. Definitely a

Safety Tips
*Avoid shaving your legs during the 24 hours before receiving a pedicure.
Shaving, waxing or other similar activity can create small nicks or cuts that
increase the risk of infection.
*Avoid receiving a pedicure if you have any open cuts or sores on skin where
services will be performed.
*If you have a medical condition that might complicate your manicure or
pedicure service, consult your physician beforehand. Please tell your nail tech in
advance if you are diabetic.
*Examine the foot spa before receiving a pedicure. Has it been properly
cleaned and disinfected? Ask if you’re not sure.
*At Nevaeh Designs, we do not use Pedicure Foot Spa's. If you get a pedicure
at a salon that does, pay special attention to the screens in circulating foot
spas. Screens must be cleaned and disinfected after each client.
*Manicures and pedicures should be enjoyable, not painful or unpleasant. Your
cuticles should not be bloody or swollen during or after a salon visit.
*The use of drills on the cuticles is legal in Oregon, but cutting the skin is
prohibited.
*Razor blade instruments are legal for use in Oregon to remove corns and
calluses on your heel or other parts of your foot.
*As with any instrument, razor blades and drill bits must be discarded or
cleaned and disinfected after each procedure.
*The Practitioners Certificate (License) must be posted in public view and they
must have photo id. If you doubt the competence of your nail tech, do not
hesitate to ask for their credentials. You may also check the State of Oregon
Health Licensing Office at http://www.oregon.gov/OHLA/index.shtml and click
License Inquiry on the left side of the page.
*Client Records are required for every client receiving any nail, facial or waxing
service. This includes the client name, address, telephone number, the date of
service and notes on any special circumstances that may have come up during
the service.
*New or sanitized nail files must be used for every client. Emery boards, buffing
blocks, sanding sleeves (on the drill) and orange wood sticks are not sanitizable
and therefore must be given to the client or discarded.
*We will not use files that a client brings into the salon as we can not be sure on
whom the file has been used. It is much safer for my client to receive a new file
with each visit.
Please be sure your nail technician follows all of the above safety and sanitation
rules. They are in place for the client and practitioner safety.
